The United Reformed Church
Reformed because our faith tradition has its origins in the Reformation of the 16-17th centuries, respecting everyone's insight and contribution, without hierarchy, and taking the Bible seriously (but not literally). United because in 1972 the Congregational Church in England and Wales united with the former Presbyterian Church of England. For a fuller explanation of our story, view the national website of the United Reformed Church (URC).
More widely, the URC has links with many Reformed Churches in Europe (the Église Réformée, in France, for example) and is a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, headquartered in Hannover, Germany.
