The Snelling Lecture
Since 2006 the congregation has sponsored an annual Snelling Lecture by a distinguished speaker on topical issues of interest to the wider community. It is so named to honour the memory of Mrs Irene Snelling, whose legacy on her death in 2004 enables much of our community outreach.
Past speakers have included the cleric and broadcaster Rev Richard Coles, Baroness Shirley Williams, Sir Simon Jenkins, Baroness Julia Neuberger, Baroness Joan Bakewell, Falklands War veteran Simon Weston and BBC presenter George Alagiah RIP. The 2021 lecture was given by David Olosuga and in 2022 by Dame Sara Khan.
The 2023 lecture will be given by Fergal Keane on Friday 1st December at 8pm - postponed from 3 November as Fergal is covering the Israel-Hamas war for the BBC as part of its team in Jerusalem. Full details below:
